Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) Erasmus Coordination Office has signed another special project. Representatives from 6 universities from 5 European countries participated in the “1st International Erasmus Staff Week” event, which was held for the first time in the history of the university.

In the last week of October, the “1st International Erasmus Staff Week” event was held in the conference hall of Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Central Library, where participants from different European universities came together within the framework of the Erasmus+ Exchange Program. In the opening ceremony of the 3-day event, BUÜ Erasmus Institutional Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Recep Yücedoğru emphasized the importance of this inaugural program. Various sessions were held during the ceremony, which also included the promotion of the university. At the end of the education, prizes were awarded to those who answered correctly in the “Turkish Question and Answer” competition, where the symbol of Bursa, chestnut candy, was gifted. In the second session of the event, participating universities had the opportunity to introduce their respective countries, cities, and universities. After a campus tour, the guests visited the Faculty of Agriculture, Conservatory, Faculty of Education, and Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences to discuss collaboration opportunities with the authorities.

Fair for students

On the second day of the event, a comprehensive fair was organized in the garden of Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Central Library. At the fair, which attracted BUÜ students’ interest, representatives from participating universities shared information about their cities and faculties. At the end of the fair, certificates were awarded to the participants of the “1st International Erasmus Staff Week” event by BUÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz and TRT General Manager Prof. Dr. M. Zahid Sobacı.

Groundwork for new collaborations

Erasmus Institutional Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Recep Yücedoğru, who provided information about the program, emphasized that the event created an important ground for strengthening the bilateral relationships within the scope of the Erasmus+ Exchange Program between BUÜ and European universities. He pointed out that participants had the opportunity to share experiences and knowledge, as well as to establish lasting friendships. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yücedoğru stated, “We believe we have signed a very valuable project as it is the first of its kind at our university. We hosted representatives from 6 universities in Germany, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, and Greece at our university. We have developed our bilateral relations. We will strive to increase the number of participating countries and universities in the next program. We thank our Rectorship and all our team for their support.”
