Eyüp Bülent Miran, the Antalya Provincial Representative of Memur Sen and the Branch President of Eğitim Bir Sen, stated that teachers should be granted the right to change their field based on their diplomas.
Eyüp Bülent Miran made statements regarding the demands for ‘field change based on diploma’ for teachers.
“The expectation of field change decreases motivation”
Miran expressed that they documented the demand for field change during the Institutional Administrative Board meeting, stating, “The rightful expectation of teachers, which was implemented smoothly between 1995-2013 and was abandoned after a partial implementation in 2014, must be addressed regarding the grievance of ‘field change based on diploma’. Changing fields is an unavoidable practice to meet certain demands. Those who want to switch to their graduation branch, those who want to transition to a new field by completing a second higher education program, and teachers who were forced to change their field for family integrity in 2012 rightfully expect a field change. The expectation of field change decreases the motivation of educational staff and makes educational activities inefficient,” he said.
Calling on the Minister of National Education to initiate the process regarding field change, Eyüp Bülent Miran concluded his speech as follows: “The Ministry of National Education should correct the mistake of viewing the issue of field change as a hindrance to employment and should take steps to align the actual service providers with the service recipients concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of the service. We call on the Minister of National Education to take action for a process in which the demands of teachers for diploma-based field change are met as soon as possible, and to remove the field change process from being a subject of debate by establishing it on a procedure and principle.”
