Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, who came to Manisa for a series of inspections and meetings, stated that the Gediz Junction, which will be constructed at the entrance of Manisa on the İzmir-Istanbul highway, would save approximately 220 million TL annually in both time and fuel costs.

As part of his visit to Manisa, the Minister visited Manisa Governor Enver Ünlü at his office. After signing the honor book of the governorship, Minister Uraloğlu received a briefing from Governor Ünlü at the governor’s office. Following that, after gathering information about the Gediz Junction, which will be built at the entrance of Manisa on the İzmir-Istanbul highway, he held a press conference.

“It will be a large junction encompassing five separate junctions”
Minister Uraloğlu stated, “Today, we are in Manisa as part of our visit, and we are at the famous Gediz junction of our Manisa. This junction, also referred to as the bus station junction, is located in a challenging area due to its unique characteristics. We are at a junction point that connects the Turgutlu road, the Akhisar road, the Manisa ring road, and also provides a connection to İzmir and enters the city via Menemen. Given the previous zoning status, construction, and the fact that it is on the route of the Ankara-Izmir high-speed train, this area presents challenges, especially regarding ground conditions, energy, and drainage issues. We have previously worked on several projects. We approved some projects in detail, but we saw that they were not feasible due to changing conditions. Subsequently, we worked on a project regarding this area, considering all the mentioned conditions, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Highways and our Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, as well as our previous municipality. We approved a project for a junction that will provide uninterrupted traffic without traffic lights, essentially a unique junction that will also encompass five separate junction areas. Our former mayor, Cengiz Ergün, also carried out the implementation and zoning processes of this junction. We will begin our work here with the land delivery in April.”

“It will save 220 million TL per year”
Minister Uraloğlu noted that the area is used by 31,000 vehicles daily, which can rise to 50,000 during summer months, and concluded his statement as follows: “Of course, we are talking about an average of approximately 31,000 vehicles throughout the year. However, during peak times, weekends, and summer months, vehicle circulation can reach 50,000. Therefore, this area needs to be managed. Our most precious asset for all of us is, of course, time. Certainly, fuel savings are also important. Thus, when we finish this junction, we hope to achieve all of these. We will have saved about 220 million TL in time and fuel costs in a year. As you can see behind me, there are improvements regarding the ground. In my opinion, there are also works related to the displacement of drainage channels to my left. Ultimately, we are spread out across the field. We hope to complete this quickly and make a significant contribution to our Manisa, İzmir, and the entire region. The collaboration and follow-up at the site are invaluable to us, and the contributions of all institutions under the coordination of our governor are important. Additionally, the political follow-up by our MPs and the provincial heads of the AK Party and MHP is also significant. I thank everyone who contributed. May Allah grant us the opportunity to work here without any accidents and allow us to finish this project as soon as possible. We will closely follow this, and we hope to bring this junction to Manisa. I wish you all the best and greet you respectfully.”

After inspecting the Gediz Junction, Minister Uraloğlu attended the AK Party Provincial Advisory Council Meeting held in the Conference Hall of the Millet Bazaar in Yunusemre, Manisa.

The inspection program at Gediz Junction was attended by Manisa Governor Enver Ünlü, AK Party Group Deputy Chairman and Manisa MP Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu, AK Party MKYK Member and Manisa MP Mücahit Arınç, AK Party Manisa MPs Tamer Akkal, Murat Baybatur, ministry bureaucrats, department directors, and workers.
