Fish shipments have started from Erzincan to Elazığ.

Shipment from Erzincan to Elazığ has started. Trout raised in the dam lakes in Erzincan, primarily salmon, are being transported to Elazığ by truck. On average, 5-6 trucks are dispatched from Erzincan to Elazığ daily.

Aquaculture is continuing to develop in Erzincan. Trout raised in cages in the Tercan Dam Lake in the Tercan district of Erzincan are being sent to Elazığ as salmon by truck.

There are 15 aquaculture production facilities across Erzincan. The annual production capacity of these facilities is 2,845 tons. A portion of this production takes place in the cages established in the Tercan Dam Lake. The young trout placed in the cages are raised in Tercan Dam Lake until they reach portion size. They are then sent to Elazığ to be processed as salmon and exported abroad.

During this period, approximately 250 tons of fish, primarily salmon, are being sent from Tercan Dam Lake to Elazığ. Portion-sized trout are sent to Elazığ in specially equipped trucks. On average, 5-6 trucks transport trout from Erzincan to Elazığ daily. The fish transported live by truck are sent to the Keban Dam Lake.

“There is no sea in Erzincan, but we produce good fish!”

Şükrü Adam, the owner of Tercan Aquaculture, explained the fish production process. Adam stated that they feed the fish at six in the morning and do not return to the fish during the day. He noted that the temperature of the Tercan Dam is 23-24 degrees, adding that they clean the nets for the rest of the day. Adam mentioned that the fish production capacity is 50 tons and recorded:

“I take 220,000 fish. We raise these fish to 250-300 grams and send them to Elazığ. In other words, we produce fish. There is no sea in Erzincan, but we produce good fish.”
