Turkcell continues to sign international collaborations in next-generation communication technologies. Turkcell and Huawei have signed strategic cooperation agreements for the development of next-generation network technologies such as 5.5G and DWDM, as well as artificial intelligence technology. With the protocols signed between the two companies, the aim is to deepen existing collaborations in smart network analysis and operations, artificial intelligence software, cloud technologies, and digital transformation, as well as to discover new business opportunities in digitalization for individuals and sectors.

As one of Turkey’s leading technology companies, Turkcell has signed a series of collaboration protocols to strengthen its strategic partnership with Huawei. Under the goodwill protocols signed in Shenzhen, the two companies aim to jointly develop innovative solutions in 5.5G, next-generation DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing), artificial intelligence, and cloud technologies. Through the joint efforts to be made, local manufacturers will also be able to take part in creating innovative solutions in product and service projects that will be developed.

Ali Taha Koç: “Our priority is to enhance Turkey’s ambition in technology”

In a statement, Turkcell General Manager Dr. Ali Taha Koç said, “Turkcell has carried its leadership in mobile communication, which it has maintained for 30 years, into different areas. In addition to being an end-to-end service provider that offers superior services with next-generation communication technologies, we are Turkey’s leading technology company. While being a locomotive in our country’s digitalization journey, bringing the latest technologies to Turkey and ensuring that Turkey has a say in these next-generation technologies are among our primary priorities. In this context, we are working with important partners like Huawei to strengthen our cooperation in key technologies such as 5G-Advanced, data centers, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital transformation.”

James Chen, Head of Sales for Mobile Operators at Huawei, also commented on the collaboration: “Huawei and Turkcell have a successful history in joint technological innovations. 5G-Advanced and artificial intelligence are among the key technologies that will play a role in the digital transformation of the future. We are happy to continue working as a strategic partner with Turkcell and contribute to the digitalization process in Turkey and support Turkcell’s success.”

Under the agreement, Turkcell and Huawei will create a global 5G-A transformation model in Turkey, enabling the rapid implementation of new technologies and applications. This collaboration will also make significant contributions to Turkey’s national digital development goals.

Collaboration with satellite company Spacesail

Turkcell has also signed a goodwill protocol to carry out joint studies with Spacesail, one of China’s leading ventures in satellite technologies. Under the agreement, the two companies will conduct trials to provide network services via satellite in terrestrial areas with insufficient mobile coverage and overseas regions. With this collaboration, Turkcell adds another international collaboration to its efforts to enable direct communication via mobile phones through low Earth orbit satellites. The company had previously signed a cooperation agreement with the US-based low Earth orbit satellite communication company Lynk to test SMS, voice, and data services directly to phones via satellite.
