The President of the Federation of Eastern Mediterranean Construction Contractors (DAİMFED), Mustafa Karslıoğlu, announced that its members have transitioned to horizontal architecture.

The DAİMFED board of directors inspected ongoing construction projects in the Kışla neighborhood of Yüreğir district on-site. During this visit, DAİMFED General President Mustafa Karslıoğlu stated that DAİMFED members are constructing buildings suitable for horizontal architecture, saying, “We perceived the idea that our country needed to transition to horizontal architecture in 2021 as an instruction given to the sector. As DAİMFED, we have emphasized the necessity for our members to abandon vertical architecture and produce projects with horizontal architecture at every opportunity since 2021. This has allowed projects and structures with horizontal architecture to emerge that are more livable, with infrastructure, parking, and landscaping, which will be more functional for the services to come from local administrations. This project has begun to be presented to the appreciation of our people. Our goal is to succeed in preventing disasters in our country, which has been located on some of the world’s most important earthquake belts since ancient times.”

“Urbanization quality is possible through the transition from vertical to horizontal”

Karslıoğlu pointed out that especially after earthquake disasters, it has been realized that multi-story, vertical buildings are risky structures, stating, “With these projects, single-story or multi-story but all non-standard buildings have invaded our city like a poisonous vine. It was particularly seen after the earthquake how timely and meaningful the instruction given by our President years before the earthquake was. Therefore, the earthquake disaster showed us a painful reality. Henceforth, improving the quality of urbanization will only be possible by transitioning from vertical to horizontal.”
