Antalyaspor, overcoming the transfer barrier, has signed Andros Townsend.

Antalyaspor has signed a 2-year official contract with Andros Darryl Townsend.

The signing ceremony held at Atilla Vehbi Konuk Facilities was attended by President Sinan Boztepe and Vice President Levent Ördek. Speaking at the signing ceremony, President Sinan Boztepe expressed his happiness about transferring a successful, experienced, and quality player who has played for the England National Team and has had a long career in the Premier League, stating, “I believe it is important to fill the right-wing position we need with such a high-level footballer. We want to see his beautiful goals, which we frequently watched in the Premier League, under the Antalyaspor jersey in Turkey, and we trust him.”

“We overcame the obstacle and signed”

President Boztepe mentioned that they managed to sign Townsend by overcoming the transfer barrier imposed by FIFA and that they went through a challenging process, saying, “In an environment where it was said that they could not open the transfer due to the heavy debt burden, we worked day and night and experienced the joy of opening the transfer. For the disappointment of those who wanted us to fail, they should not be upset anymore. On the last day of the transfer, we will be fully ready by binding 1-2 more players to our colors.”

Vice President Levent Ördek also expressed their happiness for bringing an important player to Antalyaspor, stating, “Our president has said everything necessary. Andros Townsend, in his speech at the signing ceremony, thanked President Sinan Boztepe, the executives, and Sporting Director Seçkin Özdil for their efforts in his transfer, saying, “We knew the transfer would be a difficult process, but the club lifted the transfer barrier in a short time. Everyone put in great effort. During my time here, I wanted to get to know this fantastic city, and I saw wonderful things. I had observations about the culture, the weather, and the change in the playing system. I look forward to joining the team. I am now part of the team. Therefore, I am happy.”

“This team can do better”

Andros Townsend also evaluated Turkish and English football, stating, “There are many players here who have played in England. There is a competitive and combative league in Turkey. The main difference between the two leagues is the pace. The pace here is slower.” Speaking about his personal goals, Townsend said, “I want to help the team by staying as fit as possible. My main task is to assist, but I also want to score as much as I can. This year, our goal should be to place in the top 6. I see the quality to do better than last year in training, in the locker room, and in matches.”
