Mescid-i Aksa Museum and Exhibition Hall, created by an English teacher in Mersin, has been opened. The museum contains a scaled-down original model of Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as pictures, brochures, and promotional posters related to Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem.
Mersin Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan inaugurated the opening of the Al-Aqsa Museum and Exhibition Hall set up within the International Ashab-ı Kehf Anatolian Imam Hatip High School in the Tarsus district, run by English teacher Esra Yurttaş Yılık. Governor Pehlivan, wishing success for the exhibition hall that will also serve as a workshop, toured the workshop area which consists of a scaled-down original model of Al-Aqsa Mosque, along with pictures, brochures, and promotional posters about Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem.
Congratulating Teacher Yılık for her work, Governor Pehlivan stated:
“Al-Aqsa Mosque holds eternal significance for our nation and all Muslims. Unfortunately, our brothers in Palestine, especially in Gaza, are under Israel’s brutal oppression, which amounts to genocide. Our country, under the leadership of our President, is making every effort, providing support, and extending a helping hand towards ending the oppression there. The peace of Palestine and the freedom of Al-Aqsa Mosque will bring tranquility. Hopefully, one day our brothers living there, as well as Muslims and all people from around the world, will be able to freely visit this precious sanctuary. We believe that everyone who visits this museum, especially our students and teachers, will once again realize the importance and value of Al-Aqsa Mosque and send their prayers for it to be freed from oppression and tyranny.”
“I made this model out of the sadness I felt”
Governor Pehlivan conversed with Yılık, who visited Al-Aqsa Mosque twice and conducted research about it, to learn more about the mosque through the model. English Teacher Yılık stated, “I created this model out of the sadness I felt from the incidents I encountered during my visits to Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem, and the suffering of our Muslim brothers in Palestine. I aim to teach my students about Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings through this model, enabling them to learn in line with historical facts and to spiritually embrace it.” Governor Pehlivan also received information about the children’s books Yılık wrote regarding Jerusalem, Palestine, and Gaza.
