The winners of the reading competition organized among parents to make book reading appealing in Gercüş district of Batman were awarded their prizes in a ceremony. In Kayapınar district, the parents who ranked in the ‘Parental Book Reading Competition’ organized by Kayapınar Primary School were awarded. Before the ceremony, a minute of silence and the national anthem were observed, followed by poetry readings by 4th-grade students. Speaking at the ceremony, Gercüş District Governor Muhammed Öztaş emphasized the importance of setting an example for students and expressed his wish for more events like this. Governor Öztaş congratulated everyone involved in these activities and the participants. Principal Ruken Aydemir Akkurt of Kayapınar Primary School stated that reading books is the key to success. Emphasizing the need to make book reading appealing, Akkurt highlighted the importance of working in cooperation with parents. The first-place parent, Hacire Ertuğrul, expressed that the book reading activity was a beautiful competition and stated their desire for it to be held every year. Ertuğrul mentioned that winning first place made them very happy, and their children were proud of them, leading to an increased interest in reading books by their children. Ertuğrul thanked the school principal Ruken for organizing the competition and contributing to their participation. The event was attended by Gercüş District Governor Muhammed Öztaş, Gercüş Mayor Gündüz Günaydın, Kayapınar District Mayor Samir Özhan, District Gendarmerie Commander Eren Aksu, Chief of Police Burak Erol, District Director of National Education Şahabeddin Konakçı, school administrators, teachers, parents, and students. Plaques were presented to the first, second, and third-place parents at the event. District Governor Öztaş presented a plaque to the first-place winner Hacire Ertuğrul during the ceremony.
