The foundation of the Mediterranean Modern Industrial Site has been laid

The groundbreaking ceremony of the Akdeniz Sanayi Sitesi (Akdeniz Modern) project, consisting of 280 shops, on a 17-acre construction site owned by the Akdeniz Sanayi Sitesi Cooperative, was held. The groundbreaking ceremony of the Akdeniz Sanayi Sitesi (Akdeniz Modern) project, which will be built on the land owned by the Akdeniz Sanayi Sitesi Cooperative, was attended by many representatives from Antalya politics, civil society organizations, and the business world. The ceremony was attended by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, CHP Antalya Deputy Cavit Arı, Kepez Municipality Deputy Mayor Refik Emre Alptekin, Konyaaltı Municipality Mayor Cem Kotan, Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Ali Bahar, Chamber of Craftsmen, Credit Guarantee Cooperative Presidents, NGO Presidents, and many industrial craftsmen.
In his opening speech, Akdeniz Sanayi Sitesi Cooperative President Mehmet Öztürk talked about the struggles that have been endured so far in realizing the project. Thanking the Governorship, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, and district mayors for their contributions, Öztürk provided information about the project. Mentioning that the cooperative’s land has been occupied by nearly 300 unauthorized constructions for 45 years, Öztürk emphasized that the evacuation of these constructions after years of struggle was a historic success. Öztürk explained that they will have a modern industrial site with 208 three-story shops at this stage, and with the infrastructure and superstructure works of the relevant municipalities, the existing Akdeniz Sanayi Site with 2500 shops will become a huge complex with over 2700 shops and approximately 17,000 employees with this project.
Öztürk summarized the journey of Akdeniz Sanayi Sitesi from its establishment years to the present day and received applause with a poem dedicated to the craftsmen at the end of his speech.
Kepez Municipality Deputy Mayor Refik Emre Alptekin, in his speech, mentioned the contributions of Akdeniz Sanayi Sitesi to Kepez and Antalya trade and stated that Kepez Municipality will continue to contribute to the project. Alptekin expressed confidence in the wisdom and common sense of Turkish justice for Kepez Municipality Mayor Mesut Kocagöz to reconnect with the craftsmen after being elected in the local elections on March 31.
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, in his speech at the end of the groundbreaking ceremony, talked about his years of arrival in the industrial area by bus and tractor and his transition to politics. Emphasizing the importance of the business and economic volume that will be created upon the completion of the project, Böcek stated that Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, ASAT, and all other units have provided and will continue to provide all necessary support.
Following the speeches, the foundation of the 280-shop large facility was laid with prayers in the presence of the guests. After the ceremony, the guests gathered and socialized at the prepared cocktail reception.
