Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Serdar Çam, who attended the reception held in Ankara on the 61st anniversary of ‘Africa Day’, stated that Africa not only has the potential to be self-sufficient but also has resources that can feed the world. Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Serdar Çam, who attended the reception organized by the Friends of Africa Association, was joined by bureaucrats, ambassadors, business people, academicians, students from various regions of Africa, and guests from African countries. Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Serdar Çam congratulated the attendees on Africa Day. Deputy Minister Çam emphasized that Africa not only has the potential to be self-sufficient but also has resources that can feed the world, highlighting the historical importance of Africa and evaluating that the future of the African continent is bright. ‘The 21st century will be the years when Africa leaves its mark on world history,’ said Deputy Minister Çam. President of the Association, Dr. Bilgehan Güntekin, stated that May 25, 1963, was a day when the African peoples came together under one roof, proclaiming to the world that they are equal and free. Güntekin expressed that the African Union is a symbol of hope for Africa, saying, ‘The United States, which does not even have 5% of the world’s population, owns 30% of the world’s wealth. Although the 19th and 20th centuries were lost centuries for Africa, the 21st century will hopefully be the years when a completely independent Africa, devoid of the traces of colonialism, leaves its mark on world history.’ The reception continued with a photo session and then with a meal and cocktail service accompanied by a mini concert by African artists.
