Excitement of the Spicy Pepper Eating Contest at Kumluca Municipality Agriculture and Greenhouse Festival

Excitement was high at the chili eating contest held as part of the Agriculture and Greenhouse Festival organized for the 25th time this year by Kumluca Municipality. Ahmet Gürhan, who ate 323 grams of chili in 3 minutes and became the first, won a prize of 7,500 TL among the 20 contestants.

The contest took place at Cumhuriyet Square and was watched with interest by Kumluca District Governor Tekin Erdemir, Mayor Mesut Avcıoğlu, department heads, municipal council members, NGO representatives, neighborhood headmen, and citizens. The contestants first took the weighed chili crates and moved to the contest stand. In the exciting minutes, the contestants started eating the hot peppers.

As the contestants ate the chili peppers, they tried to alleviate the burning sensation in their mouths with buttermilk and tomatoes. Some contestants, unable to bear the spiciness, tried to relax by pouring buttermilk over their heads. Contestants battling tears in their eyes impressed the audience with their determined performances.

At the end of the contest, Ahmet Gürhan, who ate 323 grams of chili and became the first, was followed by Celal Demir with 310 grams in second place and Yetkin Tuncer with 306 grams in third. Ahmet Gürhan, the winner of the first prize of 7,500 TL, was presented with the cash prize by District Governor Tekin Erdemir and Mayor Mesut Avcıoğlu. The second and third contestants were also awarded cash prizes of 5,000 TL and 3,000 TL respectively.
