Zero Waste Themed Exhibition and Fashion Show Organized at ZBEÜ

An exhibition and fashion show event themed around zero waste were organized at ZBEÜ on the occasion of the International Zero Waste Day on March 30th, with the participation of Rector Özölçer. In celebration of the International Zero Waste Day on March 30th, an event was organized in collaboration between the ZBEÜ Center for Environmental Issues Research and Application and the Hacı Mevlüt and Hacı Sabahat Hamzaoğlu Kindergarten. Among the attendees were ZBEÜ Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Şenol Hakan Kutoğlu, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Hamit Aydın, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Kadir Demir, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Asgar Çakmakcı, Director of the Center for Environmental Issues Research and Application Dr. Teaching Assistant Deniz Karaelmas, Kindergarten Unit Supervisor Teaching Assistant Yasemin Cengiz Demir, academic and administrative staff, families, and students. The event, held at the ZBEÜ Farabi Youth Office and Student Center, commenced with a speech by Dr. Teaching Assistant Deniz Karaelmas, Director of the Center for Environmental Issues Research and Application at ZBEÜ. In her speech, Karaelmas emphasized the significance of the zero waste movement and philosophy in the face of environmental issues, which are increasingly observed to have adverse effects day by day. She expressed the importance of instilling this consciousness in children from an early age for a sustainable country and world. Karaelmas highlighted the significant value of the kindergarten students’ fashion show, which they would conduct for this purpose, in terms of the importance of using recyclable products. Following the opening speech, the Zero Waste Exhibition was inaugurated by ZBEÜ Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer. Subsequently, a fashion show themed around zero waste, composed of recyclable waste and materials such as cardboard, string, plastic bags, and bottle caps, created by Hacı Mevlüt and Hacı Sabahat Hamzaoğlu Kindergarten students, was presented. After the colorful and entertaining fashion show, Rector Özölçer congratulated the kindergarten students and took photographs with them. Following the fashion show, an exhibition themed around zero waste, prepared by students under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Asgar Çakmakcı, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, was visited. Expressing his satisfaction with both the zero waste-themed fashion show organized by kindergarten students and the zero waste-themed exhibition organized by students of the Faculty of Fine Arts, ZBEÜ Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer stated that ZBEÜ has been conducting significant efforts in sustainable development and a sustainable environment for a long time. He emphasized their support for sustainability efforts in both academic and artistic terms to leave a livable world for future generations. Rector Özölçer thanked all the academic and administrative staff as well as the students involved in the event, expressing his hope for more such activities and events to be organized at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University.
