The 101st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic was celebrated in Beyoğlu with a Republic Ball. The ball, held at the historic Pera Palas, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk frequently stayed, featured waltz and zeybek performances, reminiscing the old Republic Day celebrations.
Master photojournalist Ara Güler was commemorated on the 6th anniversary of his passing in Beyoğlu, where he spent his life. Speaking at the memorial event, Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney stated, "For us, Ara Güler is someone we say, 'thank goodness he lived, thank goodness he passed through Beyoğlu.'"
