Samet Sınıkçı, who provides phone repair and maintenance services in the Ereğli district of Zonguldak, issued important warnings about the risk of low-quality phone batteries exploding in hot weather. Emphasizing the dangers of using the phone while charging, Sınıkçı warned users to be careful.
Technician Samet Sınıkçı stated that the most common complaints are about battery and screen replacement. Sınıkçı said, ‘Users mostly come for battery replacement. Screen replacement is also common. After screen replacement, face recognition problems occur. We repair them. Similarly, battery and screen malfunctions are common. These are the most common problems we encounter.’
‘Use of original charger is mandatory’
Sınıkçı emphasized the importance of using original chargers for the healthy operation of devices. Sınıkçı, who said, ‘As long as the charger is original, there won’t be many problems,’ pointed out that ‘Aftermarket chargers that do not provide sufficient current or current protection and sufficient amperage cause the device to heat up. At the same time, the battery may also be damaged.’ Stressing that low-quality chargers harm devices, Sınıkçı stated, ‘If an original charger is not used, those approved for quality should be preferred.’
‘Pay attention to phone usage in hot weather’
Pointing out that devices naturally heat up more in hot weather, Sınıkçı drew attention to the risks of using the phone while charging. Sınıkçı warned, ‘There is no high degree of heat during the normal use of the device. But if the device is used while charging, the situation changes. Because all current phones have a current voltage higher than an amp, it heats the device inevitably, and if the device is actively used, such as watching videos, listening to music, or browsing social media, the device’s processor works more, causing it to overheat excessively.’
‘Measures against explosion risk’
Sınıkçı stated that the risk of batteries exploding is generally due to battery replacement, emphasizing that changes made by unauthorized persons and non-original batteries pose a significant risk. Sınıkçı pointed out, ‘The reason for the battery explosion is generally due to battery replacement. Batteries are replaced by unauthorized persons and non-original batteries are sold as if they were original. Customers usually opt for cheaper options because they know that original batteries are expensive, but there is no quality in cheap batteries.’
‘Warning not to use while charging’
Sınıkçı offered the following advice on phone usage in hot weather:
‘Devices already reach a minimum of thirty degrees even when they are active. While in use, they should not be exposed to sunlight as much as possible in hot weather. At the same time, the device should use the original charger. If an original charger is not used, approved high-quality aftermarket chargers can be used, and they should be capable of meeting the device’s current needs. Most importantly, if possible, it’s better not to use the device while it is charging. Leaving the phone on the table during charging and using it after it is charged is healthier.’
