In Erzincan, the “Plant Health Applications 2024 Evaluation Meeting” was held. The meeting reviewed the activities for the year 2024.

To evaluate the Plant Health 2024 application program, the “Plant Health 2024 Evaluation Meeting” was organized in Erzincan. The meeting was attended by Serkan Kütük, Deputy Director of the Erzincan Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Özcan Tekin, Head of the Department of Plant Production and Plant Health, district agricultural and forestry directors, and technical personnel working in plant health.

In the opening speech of the meeting, Serkan Kütük emphasized the importance of plant health in terms of plant production and food security. He stated that the national plant health application program determined by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is implemented with a human and environmentally focused approach, and that problematic areas have been identified, leading to the development of action plans by the ministry.

Özcan Tekin, the Head of the Department of Plant Production and Plant Health, emphasized in his speech that plant diseases and pests must be controlled in accordance with technical instructions, at the right time and using the right methods. He indicated that fighting primarily with biological control methods is one of their goals, and for this purpose, they place importance on personnel and farmer training. In the continuation of his speech, Tekin noted that they are making intensive efforts to achieve the targets set for food security in Turkey, and that they also prioritize biological and biotechnical control, as well as training and inspection efforts aimed at reducing pesticide use.

Later in the meeting, there was an exchange of views on the field applications of plant health practices determined by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
