Adrasan Development Association (ADGE) submitted a report to Kumluca Municipality, outlining the problems and solutions of tourism in the town. The report prepared with the aim of directly conveying the desires of tourists coming to Adrasan to the municipality, serving as a bridge between the citizens and the municipality, was delivered to Kumluca Municipality by the ADGE Presidency. In the report sent, while it is aimed to prioritize solving current minor issues as soon as possible with the cooperation of the association and Kumluca Municipality, and to prepare and implement more comprehensive projects in the future, current issues were also addressed under main headings.
The collection times and frequency of garbage should be changed. In the report prepared by the association to solve the problems, it was stated that the garbage collection times in Adrasan need to be rearranged and collected more frequently, garbage bins need to be made suitable for the touristic area by covering them with green artificial grass, there are no waste separation bins except for markets, and waste separation bins need to be placed in the designated areas after rearrangement.
Toilets should be suitable for modern conditions. The report emphasized that the toilets on the beach are not suitable for modern conditions, they need to be maintained according to modern standards, permanent staff are requested for regular cleaning of toilets, many faucets are leaking, these structures are aesthetically very bad and incompatible with nature, a few exemplary models have been prepared and it is emphasized that the suitable one should be implemented throughout the beach.
Parking lots are inefficiently used. Listing the existing and emerging problems and solution suggestions, ADGE President Serkan Konuralp stated, ‘Due to the watering of the grass in parking areas, puddles are formed inside the parking lots. Since the parking lots do not dry out and remain constantly wet, bad odors occur and they become breeding grounds for flies. Since the parking lots are in front of the businesses, they block the view. Instead of people enjoying the beautiful scenery, they end up watching cars. The irregular use of parking lots makes them inadequate. The newly opened parking lot in the lake region is only used by tour buses. Holidaymakers arriving by car are unaware of this parking lot. Direction signs should be placed for holidaymakers to find this parking lot. Also, the roads of the parking lot in the lake region are very bad, urgent paving and sidewalks should be made. Because tourists walk in crowds between the sea and the parking lot’.
Access to the beach is difficult and beaches should be cleared of waste. President Konuralp emphasized the need for regular cleaning of sidewalks and roadside areas, stating, ‘An increase in staff is necessary for regular cleaning. The elderly, disabled, and children have difficulty reaching the beach. Therefore, wooden walkways should be built every 100 meters between the road on the beach and the sea, even with flippers. Although our beaches are cleaned by businesses, it is not sufficient. We demand that the beaches be divided into sections and staff be permanently stationed. We request the transition to paid and free beach practices, which are common in Antalya city center and other holiday resorts. Palm trees should be planted along the roadside at 3-5 meter intervals for a few years, a perfect view will be created. A beach covered with dumped sand, iron bars, motors, cars, and vacuum trucks creates a bad appearance. Vacuum truck pipes remain on the beach all day. Holidaymakers, especially children and the elderly, have to pass over the vacuum truck pipes. We demand that the vacuum truck pipes be buried underground to facilitate the emptying of septic tanks. There are too many dark areas along the beach, we demand that these areas be illuminated as soon as possible. We demand the establishment of stylishly designed uniform handicraft and souvenir shops along the coast. We request the addition of benches along the beach, and we want 4-5 volleyball courts on the beach. We want the bicycle path to start in the village as soon as possible and to be implemented all the way to the beach’.
There is a security vulnerability on the beach. Mentioning that the lifeguard towers are very dirty and unpainted, and even the lifeguard cannot sit on them due to being old and rusty, Konuralp stated, ‘There is a security vulnerability on the beach. Gendarmerie and guards should patrol the beach all night for fights and provocations. Lighting fires for picnics along the beach should be prevented. Parking on the roadside should be strictly prohibited and violators should be penalized. Due to the lack of transformers, electricity is insufficient. For example, when a boat is taken to the sea, electricity cannot be provided to the beach on that day. This causes serious energy shortages. The shower faucets on the beach are leaking due to malfunctions, causing water loss. It leads to a decrease in water pressure. The markets in the village are very close to the road, leading to traffic problems. Urgent sidewalks need to be built in this area. There are 10,000 boat visitors daily, 150 boats, 150 hotel businesses, 100 apartments, and tents. Therefore, the vacuum trucks are insufficient. We demand that a packaged treatment plant be installed as soon as possible. There are collapsed directional signs. We demand that these be made environmentally friendly with wooden materials suitable for the region’.
