Tourism professionals from Marmaris are ready for Eid al-Adha.

In Marmaris, a popular holiday destination in Muğla, Turkey and in the country, while the summer season continues, tourism operators have started to wait for holidaymakers for the Feast of Sacrifice. Tourism operators also warned holidaymakers about fake holiday websites.
As the Feast of Sacrifice holiday in Marmaris, one of the most preferred tourism cities by local and foreign tourists, extended to 9 days, the district started to experience density. Mutlu Ayhan, the President of Marmaris Chamber of Commerce (MTO), said, ‘With the Feast of Sacrifice holiday extending to 9 days, we have started to experience density in holiday reservations. We will have a full holiday season in Marmaris. All our hotels and all our businesses, shops, and stores are ready for the season. With the onset of density with the holiday, we expect a serious season until the end of October,’ and congratulated everyone on the holiday.
President Ayhan also commented on the visa application at the border, especially regarding crossings to the Greek islands via Marmaris, ‘It is too early for us to interpret this as good or bad. Because if our guests come to spend one day of their holiday in the Greek islands and spend the rest of the holiday in Marmaris, it is good for us. However, if they come to Marmaris for their holidays, park their cars and go to the Greek islands, this is bad. We will see this over time.’
President Mutlu Ayhan stated that the event season continues in Marmaris, saying, ‘The Marmaris Culture and Art Festival, which started on May 11 and is organized for the fourth time this year, will continue until June 30. I invite all our people, especially art lovers, to spend their holidays in Marmaris. Various activities, discussions, concerts, and competitions will be organized within the scope of the festival. Especially on June 22, our guests can watch a world concert at the Amphitheater in Marmaris with artists like Fazıl Say, Serenad Bağcan, and Yekta Kopan.’
‘Holiday will be a lifesaver for tourism tradesmen’
Mehmet Ayyıldız, the President of Marmaris Chamber of Craftsmen and Artisans, stated in his statement regarding the summer season and the Feast of Sacrifice holiday, ‘The extension of the Feast of Sacrifice holiday seems like a lifesaver to us, the tradesmen in the tourism region. Our tradesmen in the region have completed their preparations for the holiday season, eagerly awaiting holidaymakers who choose our region.’
Ayyıldız also commented on holidays on the Greek islands, ‘As tourism tradesmen, we actually want to break this perception. The reason is this. You can buy a product at any price anywhere in the world. That is, you can buy a product at a reasonable price, at a moderate price, or at a high price. The main reason for this is related to the service you receive. That is, no one should think that holiday prices in Turkey are much higher than holiday prices in other businesses and other countries. The reason for this is related to the service you will receive. Let me give you an example. There are places in the Greek islands where you can eat a lahmacun or a shrimp at a reasonable price. There are also places where you can eat at a very high price. This same system is valid in Turkey as well. As tourism tradesmen, we do not believe that any external destination is cheaper than Turkey and we are totally against it.’
‘Beware of fake websites’
Mehmet Biçer, the operator of a five-star hotel, said, ‘Activity has started before the Feast of Sacrifice. Marmaris is expecting a very busy holiday. Both in terms of traffic and the intensity of hotels, businesses need to complete their supplies as soon as possible.’ Biçer, a tourism professional, drew attention to fake websites especially during the holiday season, saying, ‘Unfortunately, fake holiday websites are one of the biggest headaches of tourism. I especially recommend that guests, real agencies, and branded agencies search for hotels on their own. I think this is the best way to protect yourself. Apparently, our laws are not very preventive in terms of these kinds of fake websites being established,’ warning citizens who will make holiday reservations in the digital environment.
Anıl Demirkol, a tourism professional working in Marmaris, said, ‘We have completed our preparations to welcome our guests who will come for the holiday and summer holiday in the best way possible. We invite everyone to Marmaris for a holiday.’
