Bursa Erkek Lisesi, founded in 1883 in Bursa, celebrated its 141st Traditional Pilaf Day this year with the reunion of its alumni. The alumni who visited the school reminisced about their student years, recalling the old days.
The alumni of Bursa Erkek Lisesi, which has educated important politicians and artists of Turkey, gathered on the occasion of the 141st Traditional Pilaf Day. Alumni who vividly remember their memories took photos together and satisfied their longing. The event held in the schoolyard was attended by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey, Nilüfer Municipality Mayor Şadi Özdemir, and the management of Bursa Erkek Lisesi Alumni Association (BELDER).
The event kicked off with the entrance of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Band and Bursa Erkek Lisesi students to the school to the tune of the Youth Anthem. After a moment of silence and the National Anthem, the students sang the Bursa Erkek Lisesi Anthem accompanied by the band. Speaking during the event, Bursa Erkek Lisesi Principal Şahin Boztepe stated, ‘Our school, which will graduate its 141st class this year, has been provided to our students with all its facilities, including a 32-classroom, 101-bed dormitory, sports hall, library, and science laboratory through being transformed into an Anatolian high school in 2005, and a special program and project school in 2018. With 66 teachers and 780 students, Bursa Erkek Lisesi continues its education and training. Bursa Erkek Lisesi aims to raise individuals who strive for international success academically and socially, aiming to live while preserving their core memory in a way that surpasses the level of contemporary civilization.’
Following the protocol speeches, honorary certificates were awarded to those who graduated from the high school 40, 50, and 60 years ago, and the guests were served pilaf.
