In Erzincan, where the sub-sectors of agriculture are rapidly developing, aquaculture is also becoming increasingly widespread. Erzincan Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Director Murat Şahin visited the businesses engaged in cage fish farming in Tercan Dam Lake. Providing information about aquaculture, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Murat Şahin stated that the annual production capacity of the total 8 businesses producing trout in Tercan Dam Lake has exceeded 3,000 tons, and production in a total of 150 cages is ongoing. Provincial Director Şahin noted that the aquaculture sector is increasing in Erzincan, stating, ‘Our efforts to increase production capacity in Erzincan are ongoing. Our Ministry prioritizes sustainability in facilities engaged in aquaculture, emphasizing the sustainability of these facilities in every aspect. Environmentally friendly production techniques are used in these facilities, meaning that production is carried out without causing any harm to the environment.’ Pointing out the increasing trend of aquaculture nationwide, Erzincan Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Murat Şahin emphasized that a similar development is taking place in Erzincan parallel to the sector’s progress in the country. After receiving information from the representatives of the businesses engaged in aquaculture in Tercan Dam Lake, Provincial Director Murat Şahin stated that these businesses contribute to both the national economy and the economy of Erzincan.
