Anadolu University Faculty of Education started its service in 1982 with 2 programs, namely German Language Teaching and English Language Teaching. Over the course of more than 40 years since its establishment, the faculty has rapidly developed and strengthened in physical, social, academic, and scientific aspects, positioning itself among the prominent education faculties in Turkey today. The Faculty of Education, which guides lifelong learning, has set a vision for itself to be a pioneering faculty in Turkey that continuously contributes to societal development through its graduates, educational services, and research. The Dean of the Faculty is Prof. Dr. Erkan Dinç, and the Vice Deans are Prof. Dr. Handan Deveci and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şule Demirel Dingeç.
The Faculty of Education offers opportunities for international education. With approximately 40,000 square meters of open and closed areas, over 250 academic staff members, and 7 departments serving in 11 different teaching fields, the faculty stands out in Turkey. The departments within the faculty include Educational Sciences, Computer and Instructional Technologies Education, Mathematics and Science Education, Turkish and Social Sciences Education, Foreign Languages Education Departments, as well as Special Education and Elementary Education Departments. Among these seven departments are programs such as Computer and Instructional Technologies Teaching, Elementary School Mathematics Teaching, Special Education Teaching, Preschool Teaching, Classroom Teaching, Social Studies Teaching, German Language Teaching, French Language Teaching, English Language Teaching, and Guidance and Psychological Counseling Programs. Additionally, the English Language Teaching Sunny Cortland Program is an International Joint Degree Program offering students the opportunity to earn a dual diploma. Students can benefit from double major and minor programs as well as Erasmus, Mevlana, and Farabi student exchange programs. Many students participate in the Erasmus program, enabling them to study abroad.
Students can develop themselves in various ways at the Faculty of Education. The faculty is equipped with internet-connected modern computer laboratories, science laboratories, a well-equipped reading room, drama rooms, seminar rooms, conference halls, and cafeterias. Students have the opportunity to develop themselves in art, sports, social, and cultural environments, and various seminars, workshops, and conferences are organized to help students enhance themselves in these aspects. To support students in their academic development, faculty members guide them to present projects to various national and international institutions, encouraging student projects. In the academic year 2023-2024, the Faculty of Education is proud to stand out among the education faculties in Turkey both in terms of quantity and the quality of education provided, with approximately 4,000 students enrolled. The report ‘Universities’ Competency Analysis by Field 2023′ prepared by TÜBİTAK ranked Anadolu University first in the ‘education’ category among all universities in Turkey, with education also being in the first place in the competency map specific to Anadolu University, exemplifying the high-quality developments at the Faculty of Education.
The Faculty of Education received the ‘2023 Year Accessibility in Education Award’ (Green Flag) under the Accessible University Awards for the opportunities it provides in education. The faculty also received the ‘Accessibility in Space Award’ (Orange Flag), showcasing its efforts in organizing open, semi-open, and closed areas for individuals with disabilities.
