Gebze Arapçeşmespor Club emerged as the winner in the girls U13 Friendship Football Tournament organized as part of the Gulf Cherry Festival. The Cherry Festival events, traditionally organized by the Körfez Municipality, were enriched not only with cultural activities but also with sports events. Within the scope of the 50th Körfez Cherry Festival held this year, the girls U13 Friendship Football Tournament took place. The tournament, which lasted for 3 days and was held at the Körfez Municipality Youth and Sports Directorate Academic Sports Field located at Yarımca Beach, was carried out in a spirit of friendship and brotherhood befitting the name of the tournament. 9 teams participated in the tournament, where teams from surrounding cities and districts competed against each other. Teams, competing through group elimination system, displayed competitive and exciting matches. It was emphasized that the tournament was important for the young athletes to gain match experience, and colorful and beautiful scenes emerged during the tournament. Participating in the tournament were Körfez Gençlerbirliği Sports Club as the host, as well as Pendik Güvenspor, Tuzla Sahilspor, Düzce FK, Kocaeli Karşıyaka College, Gebze Women’s FC, Gebze Arapçeşmespor Club, Darıca Birlikspor, and Derince Yavuzspor from Istanbul. At the ceremony, the awards were presented to the teams by Körfez Municipality Youth and Sports Services Director Ali Osman Baş on behalf of Körfez Mayor Şener Söğüt, along with the technical director and sports figures Haluk Kaya, Bilal Turgut, and Hamza Alyılmaz. Gebze Arapçeşmespor Club emerged as the winner of the tournament, followed by Körfez Gençlerbirliği Sports Club in 2nd place, Pendik Güvenspor in 3rd place, and Karşıyaka College in 4th place. Düzce FK was awarded as the ‘most sporting team’ of the tournament.
