Within the scope of the Rural Disadvantaged Areas Development Project carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, portable animal drinking water tanks were distributed to 16 families in Adana who make their living through nomadic animal husbandry. The Rural Disadvantaged Areas Development Project (RDADP), carried out by the General Directorate of Agricultural Reform, Studies and Projects Department, in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), continues to transform rural disadvantaged areas into advantageous areas. In a distribution program organized in Kırıkuşağı Village of Feke district, Adana Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mehmet Nuri Kökçüoğlu stated that families engaged in nomadic animal husbandry face difficulties in accessing water for their animals due to the decrease or complete drying up of water sources in summer. He said, “With this support we provide, we will ensure the continuity of animal husbandry in these regions and continue to contribute to the country’s economy.” Subsequently, portable animal drinking water delivery certificates were handed out to eligible producers in the grant distribution program by Adana Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mehmet Nuri Kökçüoğlu. The producers took the tanks they received by attaching them to their tractors. In 7 districts where the Rural Disadvantaged Areas Development Project is implemented in Adana, portable animal drinking water tanks were distributed to a total of 86 families engaged in nomadic animal husbandry, with 70% of them being grants. While 8.6 million Turkish Liras of the cost of the distributed tanks is covered by the project, 3.685 million Turkish Liras are covered by the producers as co-financing.
