President Ozyigit inspected the city library construction.

Yenişehir Municipality Mayor Abdullah Özyiğit, inspected the groundbreaking excavation works of the city library project in Eğriçam Neighborhood. The library, which will be the largest public library in Mersin, will be built on Gazi Mustafa Kemal Boulevard, one of the busiest streets in the city. Mayor Abdullah Özyiğit, along with philanthropist businessman Mehmet Kürk, who undertook the construction of Yenişehir Municipality Leyla Kürk City Library and Social Facilities, conducted inspections on site.

‘We will continue to strengthen the city’s cultural infrastructure.’
Mayor Özyiğit stated that the 1100-square-meter library will be completed within 6 months and opened to the public. He mentioned that the library will include a children’s library and a toy museum, and under the protocol with philanthropist businessman Mehmet Kürk, free tea and coffee service will be provided to library users in the library’s cafeteria for 25 years. Mayor Özyiğit pointed out that this service will create a pleasant social space for library visitors. He said, ‘We are adding a magnificent work to our city. Six months after the groundbreaking, the large city library will be opened. Here, there will not only be a library but also a children’s library, and we will create a toy museum with the valuable artist Sunay Akın. I already wish the best for Mersin and Yenişehir.’ Reminding that they opened the Baby Library in 2020, Ülkü Ongun Library in 2021, and Nuri Ulusu Library in 2023, Özyiğit said that they will continue to strengthen the city’s cultural infrastructure.

Study areas will also be available in the library
