The ‘Summer Friend’ concerts organized by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality for the past 3 years during the summer months have started with classical music performances. The 2024 season of the ‘Summer Friend’ concerts held at different points in Mersin during the summer by the Department of Culture and Social Affairs started with classical music performances at the Marina. The concerts provided by the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality City Orchestra for about 3 years to ensure that the people of Mersin have an enjoyable and music-filled summer are ready to meet everyone from the plateaus to the coastal areas. The concerts that started with Classical Music Performances received great interest from the first day. Citizens shopping at the mall were delighted with the surprise they encountered, while the City Orchestra Classical Music Trio performances literally wiped away the dust from the ears. In addition to classical music performances, Turkish Folk and Turkish Art Music concerts held in the plateaus, pop and acoustic music concerts at the beach that attract the interest of young people will make Mersin experience another music-filled summer. Matyar provided information about this year’s concert program and said, ‘We are organizing events to satisfy the people of Mersin with music and art. Last year, we organized classical music concerts here every Thursday and it received a lot of attention. We will organize classical music concerts again every Thursday in Marina in July and August.’ ‘We will also have acoustic, Turkish Folk and Turkish Art Music concerts.’ Matyar noted that they will hold plateau concerts with Turkish Folk and Turkish Art Music orchestras, and beach concerts with a pop orchestra, taking into account the satisfaction of the citizens. ‘We invite all the people of Mersin to these events,’ he said.
