The first day matches in Kırkpınar are completed: 40 chief wrestlers who will compete have been determined

The first day matches of the 663rd edition of the Historical Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling Festival have been completed. 8 chief wrestlers who defeated their opponents in the preliminary rounds of the chief wrestling competition secured their spots in the upcoming matches. A total of 40 chief wrestlers who will compete for the golden belt starting from Saturday have been determined.

In the 663rd edition of the Historical Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling Festival held in Edirne this year, 40 chief wrestlers will compete. While the top 32 chief wrestlers who earned points throughout the year secured direct participation to Kırkpınar, a preliminary chief wrestling competition was held to determine the remaining 8 chief wrestlers.

In addition to the 40 chief wrestlers at Kırkpınar, 23 chief wrestlers registered to compete in the chief wrestling category. The wrestling matches started at Sarayiçi Er Meydanı, where 23 chief wrestlers drew their opponents through a draw.

The 8 chief wrestlers who defeated their opponents and advanced to the next round secured their spots in the 40 chief wrestlers category. Cengizhan Şimşek, Hasan Cengiz, Seçkin Duman, Yunus Emre Yaman, along with Şahali Kurt, Arif Akın, Feyzullah Aktürk, Hamza Özkaradeniz will compete in the 40 chief wrestlers category on Saturday.
