Southeastern Anatolia Exporters’ Associations shared the export data for the month of June with the public. According to the press release, the region’s export in June was realized as 768 million dollars, with a decrease of 12.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. GAİB Coordinator President Ahmet Fikret Kileci stated, ‘The problems experienced by our exporters and changes in global trade habits are reflected in our numbers from time to time. This situation, which occurred with the 9-day holiday period, pushed our figures back a bit in June. I believe that with the activities we will carry out and the vision we will put forward, we will compensate for this decline in the upcoming period. This month, 768 million dollars of exports were made from our region, and 652 million dollars from Gaziantep.’ According to the written statement published by GAİB, while 5.5 billion dollars of exports were recorded from the region in the first 6 months of the year, Gaziantep, ranked as the 6th city with the highest export, made exports worth 4.8 billion dollars. During this period, the countries to which the region exported the most were Iraq, the USA, Syria, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Germany, Libya, Iran, and Djibouti. The most exported product groups of the region were announced as machine-made carpets, bakery products, plastics and products, fabrics, yarns, milling products, vegetable oils, other food preparations, wood and forest products, and iron-steel products. ‘We are taking important steps to increase sectoral awareness’ Kileci, emphasizing that they are focusing on new projects to improve exports and sector-specific work in June, said, ‘We are taking important steps to increase sectoral awareness. Applications for our Textile Association’s Fabric Design Competition continue. We also completed the 1st Jury evaluation of our Machine Carpet Design Competition in the past months. We invite all young people who want to establish themselves in the sector to our competitions. Last month, we visited universities in Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Izmir, Denizli, Usak, Isparta, and Canakkale to inform our young people about our competitions and convey current developments in our sectors. With the Japan Sectoral Trade Delegation organized by our Carpet Association and realized with the support of the Ministry of Commerce, we aimed to strengthen our commercial relations by holding meetings with the region’s leading companies. In addition, our Cereal Association visited the Turkey Food Exporters stand at the Summer Fancy Food Show Fair in New York/USA. Furthermore, our associations participated with booths in the 55th International Algeria Fair where our country was the guest of honor.’ Kileci also stated that they attended the 31st Ordinary General Assembly and Export Champions Awards Ceremony organized by the Turkish Exporters Assembly. He said, ‘Many companies from our region were included in both the TIM 1000 list and the ISO 500 list. It makes us happy to receive such positive feedback from the work we do. We will continue to add new activities every day to increase these feedbacks, overcome the difficulties faced by our exporters, and ensure the growth of our exports.’
