The first harvest was gathered within the scope of the Agriculture Campus project coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Governorship of Mersin in the district of Tarsus in Mersin. The Governor of Mersin picked grapes in the vineyard. In the Tarsus Agriculture Campus located in Sayköy Neighborhood of the district, Mersin Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan, Tarsus District Governor Mehmet Ali Akyüz, District Director of Agriculture and Forestry Hayri Erdoğan, and district protocol carried out the first harvest. Among the important grape production areas of Turkey, Tarsus, which is one of the earliest places for grape harvest, within the framework of the Agriculture Campus project coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Governorship of Mersin, the harvest of the project ‘I looked at the vineyard, it turned into grapes to eat’ was realized. At the Agriculture Campus, many projects related to agriculture have been implemented, from providing training to farmers at every stage of production to cultivating products without pesticide residues using early warning systems. Hayri Erdoğan, the Director of Agriculture and Forestry, stated that each stage of production is planned at the Tarsus Agriculture Campus, and the goal of the project is to add value to what is produced along with conscious production. The first shears were taken for the planned grapes at the Agriculture Campus, and faces were smiling. Mersin Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan, stating that the Tarsus Agriculture Campus is an exemplary project, said that they are experiencing the happiness of obtaining the first fruit of the project. Governor Pehlivan, emphasizing that the Tarsus region has the feature of being the region where the first grape harvest took place in Turkey, noted that farmers who receive training at the Agriculture Campus create a more efficient agricultural area, and Tarsus Agriculture Campus sets an example for the development of such projects.
