The exhibition ‘Gel Zaman Git Zaman’ featuring the works of 85 artists has opened at the Baksı Museum
Located in the village of Bayraktar (Baksı) 45 kilometers outside of Bayburt, behind the Kaçkar Mountains and adjacent to the Çoruh Valley, the Baksı Museum with its unique architecture awaits art enthusiasts for the first exhibition of the 2024 season titled ‘Gel Zaman Git Zaman’. The exhibition, located in the Museum Main Building, can be visited until November 2025.
Curated by the museum’s founder and artist Prof. Dr. Hüsamettin Koçan and Ayça Okay, the exhibition includes works of 85 artists including Bubi, Genco Gülan, Gülsün Karamustafa, Haluk Akakçe, Komet, Seçkin Pirim, Şenol Yorozlu, and Mehmet Kavukçu.
The exhibition brings together tradition and the future, emphasizing dedication and volunteerism for an original, humane, and democratic cultural environment, pushing the concepts of ‘low art’ and ‘high art’ into the background. The exhibition claims to provide a platform for discussing perspectives that exclude and deny humanity and its creations, bringing together folk cultural productions with examples of contemporary art.
Conversations on the River
As part of the exhibition, discussions were held with artists and academics under the title ‘Conversations on the River’ moderated by Jülide Ateş. The first session titled ‘Whose Past Is It’ featured Associate Prof. Dr. Ayşe Köksal, Nevzat Sayın, Associate Prof. Dr. Nusret Polat, and Associate Prof. Dr. Zeynep Yasa Yaman; the session ‘Where Is the Future’ featured Burçak Bingöl, Derya Yücel, Evrim Altuğ, and Associate Prof. Dr. Fırat Arapoğlu, and the session ‘Recommendations for Mixed Minds’ featured Prof. Ferhat Özgür, Prof. Dr. Gülveli Kaya, Genco Gülan, and Nazlı Pektaş. The sessions took place on a raft on the Çoruh River.
