The opening of the BAYFEST Science and Technology Festival, organized for the second time this year with the slogan ‘The Heart of Science and Technology Beats in Bayburt’ by the Bayburt Provincial Directorate of National Education, took place with a ceremony at the Anadolu Imam Hatip High School Indoor Sports Hall. The BAYFEST Science and Technology Festival, organized to increase students’ interest in science and technology and to encourage young minds to share knowledge in this field, allowed visitors to enjoy the festival by examining 35 different workshop activities with curious eyes, accompanied by competitions and shows.
The opening program, which started with a minute of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, continued with the performances of the Bayburt Middle School folk dance team. Then, rockets belonging to the ROBOHATIP team of Bayburt Anatolian Imam Hatip High School were launched into the sky, opening the doors of the festival to visitors.
In addition to 35 different workshop activities such as model airplane simulation, rocket making with foam cutting machine, line-following robot activity, Hüsn-i hat workshop, laser cnc workshop, non-burning hand experiment with water piano, students’ scientific, cultural and literary works were exhibited with model rocket competition, artificial intelligence competition, rubber-powered airplane competition and coding competitions, and presented to the liking of the visitors.
During the opening ceremony, Bayburt Governor Mustafa Eldivan expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Directorate, the educational community, and everyone who contributed to bringing a brand like BAYFEST to Bayburt, saying, ‘We are delighted to see you among us at the BAYFEST Science and Technology Festival, which we organized to increase our youth’s interest in science and technology and to encourage knowledge sharing in this field. I express my gratitude to all participants and visitors of the BAYFEST Science and Technology Festival, which has become the shining star of our city. I thank our Provincial Directorate and all our institutions and institution leaders who walk together with the education community in the organization of the festival, which will become a beautiful organization by rooting further despite being the second one.’
Governor Eldivan, stating that the workshops, activities, competitions, and shows of the BAYFEST Science and Technology Festival will be open to visitors for 3 days, said, ‘The science and technology festival will host you, our valuable guests, for 3 days with workshops, activities, competitions, and shows. Among these guests, today’s Ali Kuşçular, Cezeriler, Mimar Sinanları, Harezmiler, İbn-i Sinaları, Hezarfen Çelebileri, Katip Çelebileri will emerge. These young people who take over this legacy will pass on this duty to the next generations in a relay race. Dear young people, I believe each of you will be the technology ambassador of our country, and with your brains that work like poison and your endless energy, you will leave a mark on the future of our country. I congratulate you for your interest in local and national technology, and for the determination and perseverance you show in this regard. Especially based on the intelligence, hard work, and skill of the people of Bayburt, I want to say the following; BAYFEST will hopefully embrace all of Turkey and will lead to beneficial results at least to take our young people here one step further.’
Provincial Director of National Education Rahmi Güney stated that they will examine the distinguished works of the young people who shape the future in this festival serving science and technology and expressed his gratitude to the teachers and students who contributed.
Within the scope of the Science and Technology Festival, visitors experienced different workshop activities by visiting stands, from rockets and unmanned aerial vehicles to virtual reality applications, coding and model airplane competitions, and telescope observations. While the workshops at the festival received great attention, visitors had fun with model rocket, artificial intelligence, rubber-powered airplane, and scratch coding competitions.
The festival, hosted by Bayburt Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, will be open to the public until June 13th.
