Governor of Niğde, Cahit Çelik, issued a message on the occasion of the 156th anniversary of the Turkish Red Crescent. In his message, Governor Çelik stated that the Turkish Red Crescent, founded on June 11, 1868, under the name ‘Ottoman Society for Aiding Wounded and Sick Soldiers,’ emerged from the desire to assist soldiers wounded or fallen ill on the battlefield without discrimination, rushing to help voluntarily in war and peace, forming the basis of the Turkish Red Crescent’s service understanding. The Turkish Red Crescent, which is a source of pride and honor for our country, extends its compassionate hand to those in need, regardless of religion, language, or race, after wars and natural disasters, even reaching out to those in the farthest corners of the world without expecting anything in return, striving to alleviate their suffering and heal their wounds, being one of the oldest and most powerful aid organizations in the world. The Turkish Red Crescent, a meaningful manifestation of our nation’s culture of love, tolerance, compassion, mercy, and solidarity, has been successfully fulfilling its mission since its establishment and has gained a place in the hearts of our people as well as the oppressed and needy around the world with its beautiful services. Governor Çelik emphasized that the pride of the Turkish Red Crescent in supporting solidarity, friendship, and cooperation both in our country and around the world. He expressed his heartfelt belief that our nation and the benevolent people of Niğde will continue to support the Red Crescent even more strongly in the future, just as they have done so far. He thanked the valuable managers and employees of the Turkish Red Crescent, as well as the philanthropic citizens, for undertaking noble duties on behalf of humanity and making no sacrifices, and congratulated the 156th anniversary of the Turkish Red Crescent’s establishment.
