SAMSUN (İHA) – Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy has laid the first stitch of the Atatürk portrait, which will be created by 155,000 people by knitting.The fourth leg of the Turkey Culture Road Festival, which the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has expanded with much more comprehensive activities in 16 cities to contribute to Turkey’s international brand value, started today in Samsun. Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, who attended the opening of the festival, which will last for 9 days and will be attended by nearly 1000 artists in 30 different venues, knitted the first stitch of the Atatürk portrait that will be created by 155,000 people and placed the first stone of the Atatürk mosaic portrait consisting of 55,000 stones.155,000 people will knit a stitchAs part of the festival, the Atatürk portrait will be knitted stitch by stitch on the carpet weaving loom to be set up in front of the Samsun Panorama Museum. Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, who visited the festival areas, knitted the first stitch of the portrait, which will be created by 155,000 people knitting a single stitch. After the first stitch is made, the loom will be placed in front of the museum and prepared for the citizens. The portrait, created by the stitches made during the festival, will be exhibited later on.Atatürk mosaic of 55,000 stonesAs part of the ‘One Stone You Place’ event, the Atatürk portrait mosaic, consisting of 55,000 stones, will also be located at the Samsun Maturation Institute.
