Nilüfer Belediyespor Club Karate Team achieved a historic success by returning from the WKF Karate-1 World Youth League held in A Coruna, Spain with medals.

The world’s most prestigious youth karate organization, WKF Karate-1 World Youth League, took place in A Coruna, Spain between May 16-19 with the participation of over 3,000 athletes from 76 countries. Coached by Ilhan Çakır, Nilüfer Belediyespor Club Karate Team successfully represented our country in this prestigious tournament. With around 70 athletes from nearly 20 clubs in Turkey participating in the tournament, the successful karateka of Nilüfer Belediyespor Club, Nisanur Çakır and Naz Kayadere, brought medal pride to our country.

Competing in the junior girls’ kumite category at 54 kg, Nisanur Çakır won 6 out of 7 matches she played in the tournament. In the final match, she was defeated by her Portuguese opponent Leonor Goncalves with a score of 7-5, finishing the tournament in 2nd place and becoming the silver medalist. With this performance, Nisanur Çakır also managed to be the only Turkish athlete to reach the final and win a medal in the junior girls category.

Another one of our athletes who returned to Bursa with a medal was Naz Kayadere, competing in the cadet girls’ kumite category at 52 kg. Kayadere, who was defeated by her Belgian opponent Emilie Poskin with a score of 4-3 in the semi-final, finished the tournament in 3rd place and returned to our country with a bronze medal.

In the junior men’s kumite category, Utkan Efe Başlı represented Nilüfer Belediyespor Club and our country successfully in the tournament.

Ilhan Çakır, the coach of Nilüfer Belediyespor Club Karate Team, congratulated his athletes, stating that they have achieved a historic success in the world’s most prestigious youth karate event.
