Necatibey Faculty of Education, which has a founding date before the proclamation of the Republic, celebrated its 100th term graduates with enthusiastic ceremonies. The graduation celebrations started in the morning at the Necatibey Faculty of Education Campus. The faculty, which has 7 departments and 16 main branches, graduated 600 students, held separate graduation programs for each main branch in two different halls in the main building. The 600 graduates, under the leadership of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Aydın, marched in a procession from NEF to the Atatürk monument where they paid their respects.
It was observed that the graduating students and families who came from all over Turkey were extremely excited and happy. The faculty administration served the traditional lokma and pilaf of Balıkesir to the guests throughout the day.
Approximately 150 academicians and 600 graduate students gathered in front of the faculty, marched in a procession with their gowns, the proud flag and the faculty flag leading the way. During the procession, the people of Balıkesir greeted the students with applause. After the wreath-laying ceremony, tribute, and the national anthem at the monument in front of Atatürk Park, the group collectively moved to the Kurtdereli Sports Hall. The Rector, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu, Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Cevdet Avcıkurt, Prof. Dr. Fatih Satıl, Prof. Dr. Murat Doğdubay, university deans, and school directors, as well as Balıkesir bureaucrats, also attended the ceremony.
In his speech, the Dean of the Necatibey Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Aydın, emphasized that due to the young age of the graduates, they are the future of our country and as prospective teachers who will educate the new generations, they are the ‘future of the future’. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Aydın, highlighting the historical background of the faculty, stated, ‘Being an NEF graduate is a privilege. Now go and serve every corner of our country with pride and proudly wave the NEF flag.’
After the cap throwing and concert, the graduates left the hall and were bid farewell from the NEF Campus with drum and zurna music.
