A conference titled ‘War, Migration, and Family’ was organized at the 75th Year District Public Library in Köyceğiz within the framework of the 2024 Family Week, with the coordination of the Family Religious Guidance Office of Köyceğiz District Mufti and with the support of MSKÜ Köyceğiz Vocational School.
Within the framework of the 2024 Family Week, a conference on ‘War, Migration, and Family’ was organized at the 75th Year District Public Library in Köyceğiz under the coordination of the Family Religious Guidance Office of Köyceğiz District Mufti’s Office with the support of MSKÜ Köyceğiz Vocational School. The program started with a moment of silence, the National Anthem, and the recitation of the Quran. District Deputy Mufti Mahmut Atıcı, in his opening speech, touched upon the effects of war and migration on the institution of the family and the necessity of solidarity, expressing gratitude to those involved and the participants. Then, District Preacher Rauf Evleksiz emphasized the destructive effects of war and the importance of family unity. Following the speech, a slideshow on ‘Children in Gaza’ was presented to the participants. At the conference, the Coordinator of the Family and Religious Guidance Office, Belkıs Ulusan, discussed the ethics of war and peace in Islamic law. She then drew parallels between Islamic law and international law regarding crimes against humanity, highlighting the devastating effects of war and migration, especially on women and children. Ulusan also addressed the difficulties faced by women forced to migrate and emphasized the importance of developing empathy in society. Continuing the program, MSKÜ Köyceğiz Vocational School Instructor Dr. Erkan Bingöl talked about first aid and basic self-defense techniques in emergencies. Bingöl, highlighting the challenges faced by victims of war and migration, invited participants interested in building empathy to the stage and demonstrated practical defense movements. A poem recited by student Azize Meryem Okulu received praise at the end of the conference. District Deputy Mufti Mahmut Atıcı, at the end of the conference, thanked Dr. Erkan Bingöl for his participation and presented him with a gift. The program was attended by District Deputy Mufti Mahmut Atıcı, religious officials, and a large number of citizens.
