ABBSK U16 Girls Basketball Team brought the trophy to Zeydan Karalar

Adana Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club (ABBSK) U16 (under 16) Girls Basketball Team achieved great success by becoming the Turkish Champion. After the championship, the girls visited President Zeydan Karalar and presented the championship medal to him, whom they saw as the architect of success for providing them with infrastructure support.
Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar, who is against the idea of buying a ready-made team and believes that raising Adana’s children in Adana is the right approach, said that the girls’ great success reassured him that they are on the right path.
Winning the Turkish Championship among 286 clubs and having 6 players selected for the national team, including one U18 player, the Rebound King, two players in the best five, and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, the Champion Girls brought 4 awards to Adana.
The success of the team, which all came from scratch to the team through selections about 5 years ago and consists entirely of young people from Adana, is based on a dedicated and determined work, correct management, the right system, and the right method. All Champion Girls continue their education at Doğa College with 80% scholarships.
President Zeydan Karalar congratulated the champion athletes wholeheartedly, stating that achieving such a rare success is very important. He emphasized the effort, dedication, and belief of both the athletes, the coaching staff, and the families of the athletes in the success. He also highlighted the importance of building a team from scratch rather than buying a ready-made one in their approach to sports.
The President was presented with the medal by the same player who was selected as the most valuable player of the tournament and is also the team captain, Berfin Ada Şahin. President Zeydan Karalar also gave tablets as gifts to the players.
The U16 Girls Basketball Team is coached by the head coach Murat Kaya, who is also in the national team, while the assistant coaches are Alper Yıldırım and Emin Tufan.
Adana Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club President Kadir Özdemir evaluated the success of the girls as follows, “It is very important that the athletes are from Adana. Our goal is to contribute players to Turkish sports, to support and to create a sports culture in the youth and children. We have a success goal from bottom to top. Our club operates in 13 branches. With the support of Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Zeydan Karalar, we are progressing confidently towards our goals.”
Established on January 7, 2020, with the aim of making Adana a sports city, Adana Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club (ABBSK) operates in 13 branches. ABBSK not only provides players to the national team but also contributes players to the youth teams of Adana Demir Spor and Adanaspor clubs. Moreover, it enables 58,500 children to receive education in summer sports schools in 16 branches.
