The great figure of Turkish and world poetry, Nâzım Hikmet, was commemorated at a concert organized on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of his death. Nâzım Hikmet’s works composed by the famous composer Nedim Yıldız were performed by the Nilüfer Polyphonic Choir.
Renowned writer Nâzım Hikmet was commemorated on the 61st anniversary of his death with a special concert held at the Nazım Hikmet Cultural Center. The concert titled ‘Remembering Nazım Hikmet with Nedim Yıldız’s Works’ received great interest. Nilüfer Deputy Mayors Okan Şahin and Mahmut Demiröz, CHP Bursa Deputy Kayıhan Pala and his wife, and Şafak Baba Pala, the Head of Cultural and Social Affairs Department of the Metropolitan Municipality, along with many art enthusiasts attended the concert.
During the night, the Nilüfer Polyphonic Choir conducted by Zeynep Göknur Yıldız performed the pieces meticulously composed by Nedim Yıldız. The audience experienced an unforgettable night at the event organized to keep the memory of the poet alive. Those who came to watch the concert experienced emotional moments as Nâzım Hikmet’s poems intertwined with Nedim Yıldız’s compositions were performed. The works came to life with the harmony of all voices in the choir and the passionate performance on stage. The audience listened to each piece with great interest. The choir performances carrying both classical and modern influences received a great applause throughout the night.
As a surprise of the night, Composer Nedim Yıldız’s 40th year in art was celebrated. Nilüfer Deputy Mayor Okan Şahin presented a plaque to Yıldız. Moved by the surprise, Yıldız expressed his gratitude.
At the end of the concert, Nilüfer Deputy Mayor Okan Şahin took the stage and congratulated the choir members for their performances. Şahin, stating that they had experienced a special evening to commemorate Nâzım Hikmet, said, ‘We experienced and witnessed tonight that art and artists can always be remembered.’
