Students studying in Sivas learned about the thousands of years of history of Sivas by visiting the archaeological museum. Sivas Cumhuriyet University Archaeology Department, Sivas Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, and Sivas Provincial Directorate of National Education jointly organized a special program for high school students at the Sivas Archaeology Museum. Within the program, information about Sivas’s archaeological heritage and the history of the city was shared with the students. The artifacts in the museum were visited one by one and introduced to the students, aiming to increase their awareness of the historical and cultural values of Sivas.

Assoc. Prof. Erdener Pehlivan, who stated that information about Sivas’s archaeological past was provided to the students, said, “We met with high school students at the Sivas Archaeology Museum. Information was shared with the students about the archaeological heritage and the archaeological past of Sivas. The aim was to create an awareness through the information provided. A consciousness training was provided to the students by explaining each artifact in front of them. Within this scope, we had the opportunity to introduce all the artifacts that came to the Sivas Museum to the students.”
“I learned many things I did not know about the history of Sivas”
11th-grade student Cemilcan, who learned that Sivas has a much broader history, said, “The museum is quite beautiful. I liked the artifacts, especially the animal fossils. I learned many things I did not know about the history of Sivas. It has a much broader history, and I was informed about this subject. I am very pleased, and I thank my teachers.”
“We examined each one individually”
11th-grade student Zeynep Sude Gürsoy, who stated that the teachers individually attended to them, said, “We examined each one individually, and it was nice. Our teachers helped us separately. I learned things I did not know and looked at our historical artifacts. I thank our teachers for teaching us things we did not know.”
