Alanya Municipality organized a seminar titled ‘Ways to Deal with Exam Anxiety’ for students before the upcoming Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) and High School Transition System (LGS) Exam. Thousands of students will take the exams in June. A seminar on ‘Ways to Deal with Exam Anxiety’ was held for students who are receiving education at Fahri Gürses Support Training Course and Payallar Martyr Aybüke Teacher Study and Support Training Course, as well as for all students who requested it, by Psychologist and Family Counselor Esra Yemez from the Social Assistance Affairs Directorate of Alanya Municipality. During the seminar, activities were carried out focusing on managing the exam process, the step-by-step system to success, the principle of ‘right here right now,’ exam anxiety, potential mental, emotional, physical symptoms that can be experienced, problem-solving skills, managing anxiety, and changing negative thinking patterns through interactive applications.
Advice on dealing with exam anxiety was given during the practical activities in which students participated. Psychologist Esra Yemez emphasized the importance of concentration, preparing for the exam day, the significance of consistency, eliminating prejudices, and paying attention to important topics during the exam, stating that managing anxiety correctly is the key to success. Techniques such as breathing, relaxation exercises, visualization method, and creating a personal safe space skill were practically taught to adjust stress levels to the right point. In the question-answer section, individual dialogues were provided to analyze each student’s situation separately, concluding the study.
