The Uluırmak, which is the city symbol of Aksaray, is being cleaned by the municipality. Waste and sludge coming through the stream are cleaned to prevent both a bad appearance and the potential bad smell in the surrounding area. Cleaning works in the Uluırmak canal, which passes right through the center of the city and extends to the Karasu region, covering a quite long area, are routinely carried out by the Aksaray Municipality teams. The cleaning work, which started in the early hours of the morning within the canal under the instructions of Mayor Evren Dinçer, continued until later hours of the day with the use of heavy machinery. Mayor Dinçer, in his statements regarding the cleaning works carried out both inside Uluırmak and throughout the city, emphasized that every part of the city is cleaned at certain intervals for a clean and decent Aksaray. Mayor Dinçer stated, “Environmental cleanliness is an important factor affecting public health. Therefore, we need to keep our environment clean and protect it. We see our city with all its streets, roads, public areas, like our own home. Since the day we took office, we have been working for a clean and decent city in every area from home cleaning to container, grass fence coverings, disinfection processes, mosque cleaning, and so on. With the cleaning works we started in the Uluırmak, one of the symbols of our city, we will prevent both the ugly appearance and the potential bad smell. We, as the municipality, conduct cleaning works at certain intervals in the Uluırmak, which gets polluted due to rains and irresponsibly discarded trash. I request our citizens to be sensitive and support us.”
