After the appointment of lawyer Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent at Aydın Adnan Menderes University, the problems at the university started to increase day by day. The Yeni Söke Newspaper, published in Aydın, addressed the money taken from students who want to graduate from ADU under the name of ‘robe fee’ in its latest issue. The university administration did not make any statement regarding the allegations.

It is claimed that the students who graduated from Aydın Adnan Menderes University could wear a robe for 100 liras for some and 200 liras for others, and those who did not pay the money could not attend the graduation ceremony because they could not get the robe.

In the academic year 2023-2024, a total of 47,713 students received education at Aydın Adnan Menderes University. Some of these students were eligible to graduate this year, but many students could not experience the joy of graduation due to the interesting practices at the university under the administration of ADU Rector Bülent Kent.

The Yeni Söke Newspaper, addressing the robe crisis at ADU where thousands of students graduated, voiced the rebellion of the students. The final year students who successfully completed their departments at ADU, attend the graduation ceremony by obtaining a robe from the student affairs office. However, even if the students hand over their student cards, they cannot get the robe.

It is alleged that students from the Medical Secretariat department were charged 200 liras and students from other faculties were charged 100 liras before receiving the robe.

Students expressed their reaction to not being able to get the robe despite providing their identity documents. Questioning on what basis the fee of 100 or 200 liras was taken from them, the students invited Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent, who holds the title of Law Professor at Adnan Menderes University, to end this unfair practice.

Meanwhile, the university administration has not made any statement regarding the mentioned practice.
