The joy of the young farmer’s harvest

Young entrepreneur Ömer Uysal, who is engaged in greenhouse farming in the village of Yalınca, connected to the center of Erzincan, experienced the joy of the first harvest in his greenhouse. The 24-year-old young entrepreneur, a graduate of Gazi University Aircraft Technologies Department, who benefited from the IPARD grants implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry through the Agriculture and Rural Development Support Institution last year, is experiencing the excitement of harvest in his 6-decare greenhouse. Ömer Uysal, who grows cucumbers in a 3-decare area and tomatoes in another 3-decare area, has started cucumber harvesting. Erzincan Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Director Murat Şahin, accompanied by the Plant Production and Plant Health Branch Manager Özcan Tekin and the technical team, visited the greenhouse of the young entrepreneur and shared in his joy. Starting his career in the agricultural sector at a young age, Ömer Uysal is one of the successful young people in the greenhouse farming sector. Uysal, who says he enjoys working in agriculture, stated that producing something makes him happy. Mentioning that his family is also active in the agricultural sector, Uysal said, ‘As someone who grew up in agriculture, I am not a stranger to the sector. Being involved in agricultural production and presenting the products you grow to people’s liking makes me happy. I plan to improve my experience and knowledge in this field and progress. I made this investment after my project submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Agriculture and Rural Development Support Institution was accepted. I thank both the Ministry of Agriculture and TKDK. Today, we are harvesting our product for the first time here and will offer it to the market. I invite all my young friends to invest in the agricultural sector.’ Erzincan Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Director Murat Şahin, who congratulated 24-year-old Ömer Uysal, stated that they are very happy to see enthusiastic young people in the agricultural sector. Şahin, stating that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry always supports young people nationwide, said, ‘When we look at Erzincan today, we see that many of our youth are investing in the agricultural sector. We have many young people investing in greenhouse farming like Ömer. There are many young Erzincan residents investing in other sub-sectors of agriculture and animal husbandry. Our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry always provides support to young people. TKDK grants are an important opportunity that our young people should consider. Hopefully, with these young friends, we will take Erzincan agriculture to much higher levels.’
