With this situation, no one can say, ‘Employ my child even if the municipality goes bankrupt,’ we cannot allow that.’ The Consultation Board Meeting organized by the CHP Ortahisar District Presidency was held in the multi-purpose meeting hall of Ortahisar Municipality. CHP Trabzon Deputy Sibel Suiçmez, Ortahisar Municipality Mayor Ahmet Kaya, Provincial President Mustafa Bak, Ortahisar District President Haluk Batmaz, provincial and district organizations, the party’s women and youth branches, neighborhood representatives, and many party members attended the meeting. Mayor Kaya, speaking at the meeting, made striking evaluations regarding the excess personnel structure of the municipality. ‘It’s time to work now,’ said Mayor Kaya, requesting for understanding in terms of visit requests, ‘Two months have passed since we were elected. During this period, thousands of people visited us. I thank each one of them. Thousands of our people also want to meet with us. We will have to forgive each other during these processes. Our Private Office shows great sensitivity, trying to plan all the requests. We prioritize institutional demands in this regard, please show understanding, let no one be offended. Just think, if we give appointments to everyone individually during this process, how will we work? Even if we only give appointments to the friends in this hall, it will take at least two months. We have thousands of party members, fellow citizens. Everyone wants an appointment, but you are not alone! We kindly ask for understanding, especially I request. I know that all our friends are going through difficulties, but I request understanding again. Everything has its time, let’s finish these institutional visits first, get our work in order, then it will be everyone’s turn. No one needs to rush, we were not elected as mayor for a month or a year, we will serve there for 5 years, and our door and heart will always be open, that’s how clear it is,’ he said. ‘Hundreds of our party members, we received over 2,000 CVs.’ Addressing the personnel situation of Ortahisar Municipality in his speech, Kaya said, ‘I am not saying this to complain or whine, but to make an assessment. I want to say a few things about the revenue situation of our municipality here, you all know friends, we have 1,733 personnel in our municipality, but there is also a bitter reality; We have to find jobs for at least 500 out of these 1,733 personnel. We have 1,733 employees, we pay a monthly salary of 59.5 million, but we are trying to find jobs for at least 500 of them. I am talking about such a situation. Rightly so, hundreds of our party members, over 2,000 CVs came to us. We are the party of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his companions. We are the party of people who have volunteered to solve these problems whenever this country falls into trouble. We have been doing politics in this party for years with this consciousness,’ he said. ‘We will send some of the excess personnel to the metropolitan municipality.’ Expressing his understanding of job demands but emphasizing that there is personnel bloating at the moment and they are trying to find jobs for at least 500 people working in the municipality, Mayor Kaya continued his speech as follows: ‘But sometimes I am saddened, friends, some of our party members, our friends who we did not expect come to me and say, ‘This place is already doomed, please take my servant and let it go bankrupt even more!’ We do not have the right to say this, first we will make this troubled process manageable and for this, we ask for time from you. Of course, you are right, of course your children should get jobs, I would be most happy about that, my friends would be happy too, but while we are making efforts to find jobs for 500 of our friends working in the municipality, some of whom we sent to the Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Ahmet Metin Genç, we met again and we will send some more to the Metropolitan, he also approached positively about this. After putting all these in order, making the system work properly, paying salaries on time, providing services to the people, realizing the promised projects one by one, and managing public resources for the benefit of the people, when we make the municipality manageable with an understanding that does all these, you will also see how we do exemplary municipal work in Trabzon, how successful we are, and all of Turkey will see.’
