A coordination meeting was held prior to the International Arena AquaChallenge Swimming Championship, which will start on May 24th and end on May 26th in the district of Marmaris in Muğla. The 21st International Arena AquaChallenge Swimming Championship, where hundreds of athletes will swim in the turquoise waters of Marmaris, will last for three days. On the first day of the International Arena AquaChallenge championship, the start of the Open Water Swimming Championship 10K will be given from Bozburun Yacht Club. A total of 4,000 swimmers will participate in 10 different championships on various courses such as 1K, 2K, 3K, 5K, 10K, Night Swimming, Relay Races, and AquaKids during the International Arena AquaChallenge championship. Under the auspices of the Muğla Governorship, in cooperation and coordination with the Turkish Swimming Federation and the Muğla Directorate of Youth and Sports, the championship will have as honorary guests the Ambassador of Italy Giorgio Marrapodi and the Ambassador of the Netherlands Joep Wijnands, who will also swim with the athletes at the championship. Today, a coordination meeting was held at the meeting room of the hotel in İçmeler neighborhood, where the races will be hosted, with the participation of Marmaris District Governor Nurullah Kaya, AquaChallenge Board Chairman Selçuk Demirel, officials from the Provincial Health Directorate, District Directorate of Youth and Sports, District Police Department, District Port Security Branch Directorate, Southern Aegean Coast Guard Command, District Gendarmerie Command, District Tourism, Netsel Marina, Bozburun Yacht Club, Marmaris Water Sports Cooperative, and Aqua Masters Board members. The meeting discussed topics such as the race routes, stages, precautions to be taken before, during, and after the races, coordination communication, and task sharing. Marmaris District Governor Nurullah Kaya stated at the meeting, ‘As Marmaris, hosting once again the International Arena AquaChallenge Swimming Championships makes us extremely happy. We wish success to our participating athletes, referees, and officials, and invite the people of Marmaris to watch these exciting and enjoyable competitions. We will use all the facilities at our disposal as the Governorship.’ After expressing their gratitude to the Chairman of the Board Selçuk Demirel and the board members for organizing such an event in Marmaris, the meeting concluded.
