Niğde Municipality will organize an International Painting Exhibition themed ‘Being a Child in Africa’, showcasing artworks of 74 artists from 31 countries. The exhibition, which will open at Niğde Municipality Art Gallery on May 25th at 14:30, will be free to visit for 2 weeks. Niğde Municipality continues its cultural and artistic activities without slowing down. Having hosted an international painting exhibition in April with original works of 21 artists from 9 countries, Niğde Municipality will sign another similar event on Saturday, May 25th. Mayor of Niğde, Emrah Özdemir, invited all art enthusiasts to the international exhibition.
Mayor Emrah Özdemir reminded that Niğde Municipality organized a similar event last April, stating, ‘We had the opportunity to introduce our city to both artists from all around the world showcasing their artworks and to visitors from other cities who came to visit the exhibition. With such events, we not only meet the expectations of art enthusiasts but also strive to promote our city in every aspect.’
Emphasizing that in recent years Niğde Municipality has focused on national and international cultural events, Mayor Özdemir said, ‘The Old Armenian Church, which we transformed from a deserted state into an Art Gallery, has evolved from merely a venue for exhibitions to a preferred art gallery by galleries in different countries. The International exhibition we organized last April was also realized with the preference of First Art Wish Gallery. I hope that these positive developments will make a significant contribution to the tourism and culture of Niğde.’
Painter Sefa Büte, who undertook the curation of the upcoming exhibition, expressed his pleasure in Niğde hosting an international cultural and artistic event almost every month in his statement.
Thanking Niğde Municipality and Mayor Emrah Özdemir on behalf of all art enthusiasts for pioneering such important events, Büte stated, ‘The exhibition opening on May 25th aims to create a solidarity with the kind-hearted people who remember the children and people living above the underground riches of the African Continent, standing against the exploitation system.’
