Turkish carpet has become the most preferred carpet in the world

Hometex 2024 fair, which brings together companies operating in the home sector in many parts of the world, has opened its doors. This year, carpet companies stood out at the fair where many local and foreign participants took place.

Hometex 2024 fair, one of the world’s largest home textile fairs, has welcomed its visitors. The fair, held at the fair center in Yeşilköy, was attended by numerous local and foreign companies. Levent Yılmaz, the chairman of Eva Carpet and the President of the Turkish Decorative Carpet Manufacturers Association, who made statements about the subject, stated that Turkish carpet is the most preferred carpet in the world.

Levent Yılmaz, the chairman of Eva Carpet and the President of the Turkish Decorative Carpet Manufacturers Association, expressed that there is a serious intensity in the fair area. He said, “There is a serious intensity. We are presenting the products we produce within our own structure to our customers here. As the Turkish carpet industry, we are number one in Europe. In terms of quality and sales. We are trying to provide service as a servant of this sector in terms of production and export. In addition, our exports continue to 43 countries. When you look at the world market, Turkish carpets are preferred earlier than carpets from other countries everywhere in the world.”

The world’s largest carpet fair is now held in Turkey. President Yılmaz noted that until last year, the world’s largest carpet fair was Domotex fair held in Hanover, Germany, but now a larger one is organized in Turkey. He said, “Until last year, Domotex fair, which was the world’s largest fair held in Hanover, Germany, was the world’s largest carpet fair. We brought it to Turkey for the first time last year in December. We organized this completely domestically in Turkey. Thanks to God, about 100 foreign companies and a total of 330 companies participated here. We organized the world’s largest carpet fair as Istanbul Carpet Exporters’ Association and Southeast Anatolia Exporters’ Association. Our fair will reopen its doors in January 2025. There is a serious demand for this, all spaces have been sold out.”

Yılmaz stated that the current fair area in Turkey will no longer meet the needs, and after discussions, it was decided that the new fair area in Istanbul will be the world’s largest. He said, “We also met with our government officials, this fair area is not enough for us. They promised us a 200,000 square meter closed area. Along with this, the world’s largest fair center will also be brought to our country. Carpet weaving was known for hand-woven carpets. Later, with consumer habits, it turned into machine-made carpets. Now, the decorative carpet sector, which we produce within our Eva Carpet company, is shifting. In order to strengthen this unity in Turkey and to be able to make more disciplined and quality exports, we established the Decorative Carpet Kilim Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TÜHİAD) within our company, bringing together over 50 companies like ours.”
