A woman who purchased a zero-display Vestel brand washing machine in Adana complained when she realized that the machine she bought was used and damaged. Fulya Örtücek (40), who wanted to renew her washing machine at home, stated that she went to a Vestel dealer to buy a new washing machine. She said, ‘I bought a Vestel washing machine. After receiving it and examining it in detail at home, I noticed cracks on the glass and in various parts of the machine. I also noticed detergent residues on the inner surface and loosening on the door seal due to usage. I informed the dealer about my complaints. My complaint continues. There is no solution with the dealer. It is a defective and faulty, used product. I bought it as new, but it arrived as a used product and I couldn’t find any solution.’ According to Örtücek, when she purchased the product, the sales representative at the dealer claimed that there was a small scratch on the top left side of the machine and that she would be given a discount of 8,000 TL. She said, ‘While the actual value of the machine is 23,000 TL, they told me that they could sell it to me for 15,000 TL. They said there was only a scratch in the corner. I accepted their discount offer thinking it was only for the scratch. But when the product arrived, I realized that it was used and second-hand.’ She added, ‘I thought they were giving me a discount. Later, when I did the necessary internet research, I saw that the product was already being marketed at this price and sold at this price. However, they had told me at the dealer that it was approximately 8,000 TL cheaper due to the scratch, so it seemed reasonable to me. After buying it and inspecting it, I saw that there was no price difference in the online market or at other dealerships. Actually, there was no price difference at all. I bought it trusting the sincerity of the dealer despite the scratch in the corner. That also turned out to be incorrect. I don’t want the product. For hygienic reasons, I don’t want to use it. If I wanted a second-hand one, I would have bought a second-hand product.’ Örtücek also stated that after the product turned out to be defective and used, she contacted the authorized service who delivered the product to the house and asked them to take it back, but despite talking to the officials on the phone many times, the service allegedly did not come, saying ‘we will come to make a report during the day.’
