DEM Party members gathered in Diyarbakır and made a press statement regarding the Kobani Trial. The members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (DEM Party) Diyarbakır Provincial Presidency gathered in front of a shopping mall to make a statement. Police teams, taking security measures, reminded the party members of the ban on actions and events issued by the Diyarbakır Governorate yesterday, and the statement was made after negotiations. Abbas Şahin, the Diyarbakır Provincial Chairman of the DEM Party who made the statement regarding the Kobani Trial, said, ‘We will fight for Turkish democracy, for a democratic republic. Those who made this decision should know very well that those days are not far for our peoples. We promise to carry on the struggle of those days more decisively.’ The party members then went to the provincial building, where Gültan Kışanak, who was released considering the time she spent in custody during the Kobani Trial at the Ankara 22nd Heavy Penal Court yesterday, Ahmet Türk, the Mayor of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality who was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the Kobani Trial, and Ayşe Serra Bucak Küçük, the Mayor of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, visited the DEM Party Diyarbakır Provincial Presidency. In her statement, Kışanak said, ‘Kobani was actually a humanity case, a conscience case. At that time, everyone stood up for humanity, conscience, honor in Kobani. Later, political operations were carried out with a plot case. Yesterday’s decision was not a meaningful decision for us. Neither legally, nor humanely, nor conscientiously, nor even a bit valid as the truth of this country. We know that each of our friends there lived for the peace, freedom, and democracy of our peoples. That’s why they took a breath. Today, they continue the same resistance in prisons. We will fight together.’ Ahmet Türk, the Mayor of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, said, ‘Kobani plot case stands before us as a political trial aimed at intimidating, silencing, and eliminating the gains of the Kurdish people. We know that from the past to the present, we face an understanding that is almost racist, nationalist to destroy the gains of the Kurdish people. We want you to know that, no matter what they do, this people will never bow down. They will continue the struggle for their freedom, democratic future, and the free future of the Kurdish people with even more organization and faith than yesterday for a free and democratic future. Our hearts are sore because our comrades are still inside. But for a free and democratic future, we will fight today even more organized and believing than yesterday.’
