Injured Sea Turtle Rescued in Alanya

A sea turtle injured by a boat propeller on the beach of a hotel in the Konaklı district of Alanya was rescued by the hotel staff after washing ashore. Thanks to the quick and sensitive intervention of the hotel employees, the injured sea turtle survived.

DEKAFOK Coastal Protection Association‘s awareness and education efforts to protect sea turtles bore fruit in the incident, as the hotel staff immediately took action to help the injured sea turtle.

Noticing deep cuts on the shell and neck of the sea turtle, the hotel staff promptly notified the Alanya Nature Conservation and National Parks Directorate. The injured turtle was taken under treatment by the teams.

The sea turtle, whose condition is improving, was found to have been injured as a result of being hit by a boat propeller according to initial assessments. The turtle, which started to recover with interventions by veterinarians, will be released back into its natural habitat after the treatment process.
