Mothers of martyrs who visited Edirnekapı Martyrs’ Cemetery on Mother’s Day experienced emotional moments. Relatives of martyrs visited the graves of their loved ones at Edirnekapı Martyrs’ Cemetery due to Mother’s Day. In the martyrdom where sorrow prevailed, relatives of martyrs prayed at the graves of martyrs. Just like every Mother’s Day, the relatives who came to visit the martyrs today also cleaned their graves.

• Pembe Üvenç: Mentioning that her son was martyred in Tunceli a week before his military service was about to end, she said, ‘My son was martyred in Tunceli. He was about to come home in a week. I keep crying for my Ahmet. I cried all night long. My son was tall and strong. My daughters will come visit later. I had 4 sons and 2 daughters, he was special. He was calling on the phone, saying ‘Mom, I’m coming, only a week left’. May he rest in peace.’
• Nimet Ercan: Expressing that she is always by the grave of her martyr son on every special occasion, she said, ‘It’s very hard for us. We are always here. Every holiday, every special occasion. This is our second home. We are really sad and upset because our son is not with us. Long live the homeland. We found some consolation.’
• Emine Koç: Visiting the grave of her martyr son on Mother’s Day, she said, ‘As a mother, today is a different day. I cannot express my pain to you no matter what I say. My heart is just aching. I feel his absence in every way. The day the first news of martyrdom came, how my heart burned that day, it still does. It will continue, God willing, until we reunite in heaven. I don’t see him as dead, on the contrary, martyrs never die, they are alive, we just don’t see. I’m here but Enes is always with me.’
